The Phoenix Retreat is located in the beautiful village of Abercraf in the Welsh Valley of the Sleeping Giant. From London, Bristol, Cardiff or South West Wales

 

Take the M4 motorway to Junction No 45 and then follow the A4067 North for 13 miles to Abercrave (Abercraf). The A4067 by-passes the village but there is a slip road on the left with a brown services (bed, knife and fork) sign. Pull into the slip road, turn left and immediately right up the hill. School Road is the second on the left and has 20 mile per hour limit sign. There is also a green sign to the retreat on the corner of School Road. The retreat is 400 yards up School Road, diagonally opposite to the school and firestation which are on the left,  on the right hand side.

From the North

 

Either... take the A4067 from the A40 and after 13 miles turn right at Abercrave into the village. Follow the road through the village, past the Abercrave Inn and Copper Beech Inn. School Road is the first road on the right. It has 20 mile per hour limit signs. There is also a green sign to the hotel on the corner of School Road. The hotel is 400 yards up School Road , past the school and the fire station, on the right hand side.

 

Or...

 

from the M5/M50 follow the A40 then A465 as far as Glyn Neath. Leave the A465 here and take the A4109/A4221 over the hill to Abercrave. At the junction with the A4067 turn left (towards Swansea) and after half a mile turn right into Abercrave. The road bends sharp right and up the hill into the village. School Road is the second on the left and has 20 mile per hour limit signs. There is also a green sign to the retreat on the corner of School Road. The hotel is 400 yards up School Road, past the school and the fire station, on the right hand side.

By Train to Abercrave:

From: London Paddington Station to Neath or Swansea: Direct trains every hour Mon/Sat, journey time 2hrs 40 mins. Sunday service less frequent.

 

From: Manchester/Birmingham to Neath or Swansea (Change at Cardiff): Regular services Mon/Sat, Sunday less frequent. Journey times.. Manchester 3hrs 45mins, Birmingham 2hrs 50 mins.

 

A taxi from Neath Station to Abercrave (16 miles costs around £20.00). Bus service from Swansea to Abercrave (every hour) costs around £ 2.50.

Regular bus services run to Neath and Swansea from  London (Victoria Coach Station), Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol and Cardiff.
